Far Apart

Far Apart
Far Apart formed in Luleå, Sweden in 1995, taking their name from a song by The Cure. The band, featuring Mats Ömalm on guitar and vocals, Kalle Nyman on bass and vocals, Stefan Sundström on guitar, and Tomas Nilsén on drums, drew from Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu, and Jawbox to build a raw, melodic post-hardcore sound that felt both distinctly Swedish and plugged into the same underground current running through the US at the time.

Their 1997 debut 7" Hazel came out on Sweden's Carcrash Records and was picked up by US label Crank! Records the following year. Despite interest from larger labels, the band stayed DIY, toured Europe, and released a split before calling it in 1999. In the years after, their records quietly accumulated the kind of reputation that spreads through message boards and word of mouth, and their music became something of a hidden gem among people who care deeply about that particular moment in underground rock.

Lovitt Records and Carcrash Records rescued the release removing the lofi bootlegs from Spotify and issuing an official remaster in 2025. Discography with previously unreleased tracks to be released in 2026!
