Jason Falkner is a Los Angeles-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose fingerprints are on an unlikely range of records. He came up through the LA paisley underground and early-90s power pop scenes, playing in the Three O'Clock, Jellyfish, and The Grays before abandoning band life to make records largely on his own. His 1996 solo debut, Presents Author Unknown, set the template: written, performed, and produced almost entirely by himself, densely melodic, and indebted to the Beatles and XTC without sounding like either. After the release of his Sub Pop double 7" and first album, Lovitt reached out to him to release his "Holiday" 7" along with a vinyl edition of his Nigel Godrich produced "Can You Still Feel" LP containing bonus tracks and alternate cover art which is now coveted on Discogs as a rare gem!
Since then he's released a handful of solo albums, toured as bassist for Air and guitarist for Beck, and turned up as a session player and producer on records by Paul McCartney, Aimee Mann, Brendan Benson, and others. The session credits are extensive enough that there's a decent chance you already own something he played on.
